Available Scholarships:
The Greater Owensboro REALTOR® Association is offering two scholarships during the 2025-2026 school year.
1st place is $1,500 and 2nd Place is $1,000. The checks will be made payable directly to the two winners.
Who is Eligible
Any high school senior enrolled as a high school senior in Owensboro High School, Owensboro Catholic High School, Daviess County High School, Apollo High School, or Whitesville Trinity High School. 3.0 GPA minimum
Submission Deadline
All essays must be turned in to the high school counselor on or before Friday, April 24th, 2026. Essays will be evaluated, and the winners declared in early May.
Essay Topic
The Importance of Home Ownership and the Use of a REALTOR®. Students are encouraged to use any available resources, giving credit to the sources, of course. Essays should be no longer than 3 typed pages (but do not have to be typed).
Grading
The Public Relations (PR) Committee of the Greater Owensboro REALTOR® Association is responsible for selecting the scholarship winners. The PR Committee will use a rubric to judge the essays (students will have access to the rubric). Essays submitted must be the original work of the participant, composed without the assistance of AI-generated content. Any submission found to have been generated with the aid of AI technology will result in immediate disqualification from the competition. AI is permitted solely for research purposes and should not be utilized in the creation of essay content for this competition. Participants are expected to uphold the principles of academic integrity and submit essays that reflect their own intellectual efforts and creativity.
Award Presentation
A check presentation will be conducted at the Greater Owensboro REALTOR® Association, and the winners, accompanied by a parent or guardian, must attend in person.

By submitting an essay, you are granting permission for the Greater Owensboro REALTOR® Association to post your essay and student picture on the GORA website and social media pages.
